Freshly back from Spring Break, with the stress of practicum, thesis, and job hunt looming, it’s crucial for students to find time for fun.  What better way to kick off spring than with celebrating St. Patrick’s Day?

Where?
Savannah, GA may not be the first destination that comes to mind when mapping out St. Patrick’s Day plans; however, it has quickly become one of the largest celebrations in the world.  Celebrations began 190 years ago and continue to grow; attracting hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world.

When?
Every year, the city takes great pride in its yearly celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, kicking off the party the weekend following the holiday.  The festivities begin with the annual “River Street St. Patrick’s Day Parade.”  Activities continue through the weekend with a full lineup of performances, the famous dyeing of the fountain green in Forsyth Park, and pub-crawls.

Now what?
Start planning! Savannah is one of the most popular places to celebrate the holiday.  Added bonus: it is only a 3-hour drive away from Atlanta. Don’t miss out on the fun because, trust me, it is oodles of fun! A coastal Georgian city filled with ornate architecture and parks galore, add in beautiful weather, and you have the recipe for a successful St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
