As an Atlanta native, I have been lucky enough to have had the opportunity to explore this wonderful city and all the different neighborhoods it has to offer. Most of the neighborhoods their quirks, such as the Virginia Highlands being the hipster scene and Buckhead being the “ritzy” part of town (sidenote: I have seen Usher shopping at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead before!) My favorite neighborhood of Atlanta though has to be Midtown, which is often underexplored by Rollins students.
Here are a few of my favorite places in Midtown:
Atlanta Food Truck Park on Howell Mill
The Atlanta food truck park is a little fenced off area in midtown and has tons of various food trucks that alternate daily. You can check their website or Facebook page to see which trucks will be there on what day and at what time. What I love about this concept is that you can try more than one kind of cuisine at a time while sitting outside and enjoying live music!
Six Feet Under
This place is for seafood lovers! It combines good food, a dive bar feel and a fantastic rooftop view of the skyline. It’s also a great place to start a night out with friends or for even a first date with its casual but fun vibe. If you do check this place out, don’t forget to order the incredible margaritas and jalapeno hushpuppies!
Piedmont Park
Piedmont Park is well known among all Atlanta residents and most tourists. It’s a great place for a run, a picnic or just some exploring. Piedmont Park constantly holds events such as free exercise classes, art festivals and of course the huge Music Midtown festival in September just to name a few. Past performers at Music Midtown include Drake, Sam Smith, John Mayer and Eminem. I’ve gone the last three years and I can’t wait for year four!

Atlantic Station
The perfect outdoor mall for those gorgeous sunny days in Atlanta. It holds lots of stores and restaurants along with a huge movie theatre and so much more. The Forever21 and H&M here are both three stories tall, which is every girl’s dream!

As a huge music lover, any chance I get to see a favorite band/singer at the Fox is a dream come true for me. The indoor scenery is to die for and unforgettable shows have been performed here including Widespread Panic, My Morning Jacket, The Atlanta Ballet, The Book of Mormon and The Lion King.
