Rollins Student Ambassadors Co-Leaders 2020-2021

Managing the Rollins Student Ambassadors program are two ambassador leaders who support, advise, and train.

Amanda Mohammed

Hi y’all! My name is Amanda and I’m a second-year BSHES student from Snellville, GA. I graduated from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) in 2018 with a BS in Rural Community Development. Currently, I’m a Graduate Research Assistant with the Emory Centers for Technical and Teaching Assistance working on a variety of projects spanning from Alzheimer’s to tobacco cessation. Recently I began working with the Georgia Dept. of Public Health as an EPI Assistant for the COVID-19 response. I am also involved with the Career Development Ambassadors (CDA), hold a position on the Student Outbreak Response Team (SORT) exec board as the Community Outreach Liaison, and served as a Graduate Mentor/Facilitator for the Emory Pipeline Program (among many other things!). My academic interests include emergency management & response, health literacy, quality improvement, the social/contextual determinants of health, and rural health. When I’m not on campus you can find me trying new restaurants, volunteering at ATL festivals, traveling, and finding any excuse to pull out my camera. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions and I look forward to sharing my Rollins experience with you!

Vincent Varvaro

My name is Vincent Varvaro and I am a second-year Health Policy & Management student on the policy track. I am a lifelong New Yorker and grew up in a small town near Saratoga Springs, NY. I graduated from Stony Brook University with a degree in Psychology and Sociology and came to Rollins immediately after completing undergrad. While at Stony Brook, I was able to take a Society and Medicine course, and it was that course, and the professor that taught it, that convinced me that I wanted to get into public health. Here at Rollins, I am a graduate research assistant in the Center for AIDS Research through the REAL program. Outside of Rollins, I love being active and the outdoors, as well as trying new foods! I chose to come to Rollins because of the great sense of community here as well as its location, which was a definite bonus, and I have never regretted a second of it. Rollins is a special place and I can’t wait to share how special it is with everyone!
